'Autism Eats’ Provides A Safe Space for Families to Go Out to Dinner with their Children with ASD

Going out to eat is a great way to spend time with family. However for families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), going out to eat is more of a struggle than it’s worth. A couple from the Boston area with a son with ASD decided that going out to eat should and can be an enjoyable experience for all. In order to do this, they created a dining club called “Autism Eats.” The organization plans dinners for families to join, in which they will not have to worry about the judgment of other diners. The dinners are held in private rooms, music and lighting are adjusted to be sensory-friendly and food is served buffet style. Additionally, the dinners provide families with a time to socialize and connect with others in similar situations. Visit the Autism Eats website to learn more about the club and see if there are any future dinners near you.
